Three decades ago John Norton could be found exploring textile mills, furniture factories, mines, lens-grinding facilities, lingerie manufacturers, schools, research labs and other obscure places. His collections found their way to the design world through Industrial Age Antiques. John had earlier studied chemistry and biochemistry at Bates College, UNH and Dartmouth and Yale Medical Schools. John has recently gone back to the laboratory to create a new line. Inspired by English apothecary bottles with a silver inner-coating to protect the light sensitive chemicals used in dye making, He still spends his time poking around factories and is turning out Roll Islands from his finds.
